July 2010 - I entered this painting at a competition, won second place.

Four Panel Prismacolor Colored Pencil/Art Stix Self-Portrait 2004-2010

Four Panel Prismacolor on Pastel Paper (Total: 44" x 60")

I used Prismacolor Pencils and Art Stix on Canson Mi Tientes Pastel Paper (color: Moonstone). The edges are distressed - torn, and lightly painted with acrylic wash. I started this piece in 2004, but due to college course demands, followed by more than a few moves and frequent job changes, I was interrupted, and didn't get around to finally finishing this piece until 2010. I'm currently looking into framing options for this piece.

Some Older Oil and Acrylic Paintings

I started working on canvas when I was about twelve years old. I started out with tempera and acrylic paint and started using oil paints a couple of years later. These paintings are from 1996-2001, so I was only 13-18 when I did these. I still have a few of these paintings. (Above painting, oil on canvas board, 1999)

Watercolor and Acrylic Ink Wash Paintings

After I left college, I continued to use watercolor, and I started mixing my own custom acrylic ink, combining mica pigments with acrylic mediums and paint. All of these paintings were done between 2006 and 2009. The above painting was created with acrylic ink wash over rough-press watercolor paper. It has a shimmer effect when light hits it just right.

Watercolor Paintings from Landscape and Nature Studies

I started using watercolor when I took a landscape painting class. These are some of the paintings that I did while I was enrolled in that class back in 2001. Fortunately, I had spent years watching my mother paint with watercolor prior to taking the class, which was much more beneficial than the lousy five minute half-assed tutorials the professor gave. Maybe had she spent a fraction of the time she spent promoting her cafe during class time on improving her art, she wouldn't have been such a hack. Lol...seriously, class was like a commercial for the over-priced cafe that was located in the lobby of our school.
